We are now taking reservations for 2007 & 2008. Especially for those with large families we recommend reserving space at least a year in advance.

What's Happening At The Ranch?

A hearty THANK YOU!!! To those wonderful Guests who made the 2006 season such a success.

We're Winterizing:  Most of our buildings are ready for winter.  Consider a winter get-together with your gang here at the ranch.  Several guests have already discovered how fun it is to have Christmas or Thanksgiving here at the ranch. Now we can accommodate even larger groups.

The big game hunting is always very good in our area. For those of you who don't like to hunt, but love the big game, winter is a wonderland of wild animals in the mountains. That has become my big love....the reason I now thoroughly enjoy winter. Please join me.

If fishing is your love, we have the best!  Sleep in a warm bed, have a hearty breakfast, then walk to the river for a day of steelhead/trout fishing. Returning to a hot shower and a warm bed surely beat hauling a trailer or freezing in a tent.  And, besides, the company can't be beat.....

We have made these Additions/Changes :

  • Paul has constructed three wonderful family cabins.  Each sleeps eight.  There are three sets of bunks...a set of queen-sized and two sets of twins.  They are definitely an improvement to our accommodations.
  • The two food-preparation areas in the Lodge make it much easier for two families to prepare their food at the same time.
  • We have rafts to rent. Included are the paddles and life jackets. Take a long, leisurely river ride with your family--or a short one. We can take you where you prefer, and come and get you. The Salmon River is ½ mile from the Ranch.
  • Guests are certainly enjoying our Disc Golf Course!  If you are unfamiliar with disc (frisbee) golf, just snoop around a bit and you will discover that it is becoming a very popular sport nationwide. We have the discs at the Ranch, but encourage you to bring your own....sort of like having your own golf clubs!
  • The waterslide has been extended to twice the length it was before.  It's now 200' long and is definitely the hit of the Ranch. We have noted that it isn't just the kids who love it......they have to vie with the adults for turns.

FUTURE MFR PROJECTS

  • A new pavillion is in the making. It will be ready for the 2007 season. Eventually there will be additional bathrooms added near it.

WILL YOU SHARE YOUR IDEAS?

Some of the most frequently asked questions we receive are "How do you handle food preparation for a large group?" and "Do you have any good suggestions for activities for big groups?"

As you might imagine, we have been involved in many, many reunions/big groups over the years. We have had some great experiences and some not-so-good experiences. I am currently trying to collect as many good ideas as I can about food preparation and activities for reunions/big groups. Hopefully, I can generate some kind of printout to be able to share with others who are overwhelmed with these tasks. I’m still in the learning mode about computers and their amazing capabilities. Perhaps I can have ideas on our site in the future.

Here’s what I ask of you: If you have information you would be willing to share with me about any of the following topics, please email them to me: (Our email address is mays@custertel.net )

  • Recipes for crowds: Main dishes, desserts, etc.
  • Dutch oven recipes
  • Ideas for how to ‘share’ responsibilities for food/games etc with large groups
  • Successful games for any age group
  • Ideas for planning a reunion

I want you to know ahead of time that I appreciate your interest and help. Because planning a reunion is a genuinely easy thing for me to do, it amazes me when I talk to someone who is overwhelmed by the task. I would love to make it easier and more fun for those individuals who are stressed by it.

ATTRACTIONS: For the present, I feel that we have pretty adequately addressed these in our section under the heading ‘Area Attractions’. We have wonderful western artists/sculptors in the area who are amazingly talented. They are most accommodating to those who wish to see their works. I will add any appropriate information to this page as it comes to our attention.
